Ok so itās not New Yearās Eve, however, Summer evenings seem like a nice time to have a little āsexyā beverage. No, summer doesnāt have that same āsexinessā or āsignificanceā as New Yearās Eve, or monumental event like a wedding, engagement or any other special life event usually set aside for champagne. Maybe āsexyā isnāt the correct word Iām searching for, but you probably get the gist of where Iām going with this thought. A little sparkly or bubbly can add a little fruit juice or liqueur to an elevated level of fun but not too much.
A Hugo Spritz may be seen on the same drink menu that serves an Aperol Spritz. Both are popular in the summer at resorts world wide.
Well, how about a special drink to enjoy on a hot summer night, before dinner at home, to add a little romance to your evening? When I think of a romantic beverage, I always go to Champagne , sparkling wine. Maybe what got me thinking about this was a book I listened to, a few years back, Widow Clicquot, about Barbe-Nicole Clicquot, the woman responsible for carrying on the famous French Champagne company when her young husband died unexpectedly.
Champagne is fancy enough alone, of course, however, if you care for a little sweetness to your bubbly brute beverage, consider a shot (about 1.5 ounces) of Cassis, made from black currents, Chambord (a raspberry liqueur), Cointreau, (an orange liqueur) or my FAV, St. Germain, made from elderberry blossoms), often referred to as an Hugo Spritz (my new FAV champagne beverage). Add a piece of the āmatchingā fruit, or something close. For a little lighter choice, use equal parts champagne and club soda (2 ounces of champagne, 2 ounces of club soda) and a shot (1.5 ounces) of the fruit flavored liqueurā¦ And there you go. You have a fancy āsexyā beverage fit for a queen, princess or the wife or galā¦You decideā¦Add something pretty/sexy to wear and who know just how your evening may goā¦Nice music something delicious and it just might be an occasion to sayā¦Cheersā¦
