There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with Brownies made from a boxed mix.  Anytime anyone goes to the effort to make something in their kitchen and share with you or anyone else, it is a gift of thoughtfulness and kindness and it should be appreciated….However, every once in a while, it’s kind of fun to take something simple and just AMP it up to a new level, maybe for a special occasion and maybe just to go that extra little mile just to try something different. Here you go, your “Marvelous Magic Movie Star Brownies 🕶.”  When I was a teenager and I would get dressed up and put on my sunglasses, my Dad would say that I looked like a ‘Movie Star’ ⭐️ and we would laugh.  I sometimes think of that now when I dressed up and get out my fancy sunglasses.  Why can’t we do the same thing to simple and delicious foods?

What gives these Brownies Star Power?  Extra chocolate chips, dark chocolate chips & unsweetened chocolate chips and a taste that is not too rich.  I would say a full taste, but not over the top. This recipe makes a sheet cake pan (15x20), so lots of Brownies and here’s how I use them:

-Some for your cake dome on the counter to enjoy for the next

       few days

-Some little squares to freeze for those times when you just need

a little bite of something chocolate

-Some to freeze for a Brownie Ice Cream Hot Fudge dessert

-Some to put on plates to take to share with your people or a

      neighbor

-These could be part of your Happy Hour menu in small squares

Do not over cook these.  Cook until a toothpick comes out clean, but no longer.  I like to cool these a while on the counter and then place in the fridge to chill so that they cut nicely.  I use a sharp, large very knife for nice clean edges.

Marvelous Movie Star Brownies Recipe

🕶  Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees and adjust racks prior to turning on the oven.  I like to place these on the middle rack and I remove the top rack so that after about 15 minutes into baking I slightly lift the pan of tap it on the rack to minimize bubbles in the batter.  Butter and flour a18x12 cookie sheet.

Ingredients

-1 pound and an additional 12 ounces dark chocolate chips

-6 ounces unsweetened chocolate

-1 pound (4 quarters/sticks of unsalted butter)

-1 1/2 Tablespoons pure vanilla extract

-6 extra large eggs

-2 sleeves Starbucks instant coffee sleeves (I like blonde roast)

-1 3/4 cups granulated sugar

-1 1/4 cups unbleached flour

-1 teaspoon course salt

-1 Tablespoon baking powder

-2 3/4 cups chopped walnuts

Method

🕶 Place sticks of butter and only 1 pound of the dark chocolate

chips and the 6 ounces of the unsweetened chocolate chips in a

larger glass mixing bowl or large glass measuring cup.  Melt in

either the microwave in about 30 second increments until melted and smooth, or you could melt on the stove top.

🕶 In a large mixing bowl, blend coffee granular, sugar, vanilla and

eggs (do not use a mixer, stir by hand).

🕶 Stir in the warm chocolate/butter mixture.  Let cool briefly.

🕶 In another bowl, blend with a fork or whisk, only 1 cup of flour, flour, salt and baking powder.  Add this to the chocolate mixture.

🕶 Stir the walnut and additional 12 ounces of dark chocolate in a bowl with the remaining 1/4 cup of flour.  Now fold into chocolate batter and pour into baking sheet pan.  Smooth batter with a spatula.

🕶 Set timer for 20 minutes. When the timer goes off, open oven, with oven mitts slightly lift pan and tap on rack of minimize air bubbles as mentioned above.

🕶 Re-Set timer for an additional 15 minutes of baking.  Check with a tooth pick when timer goes off.  When tooth pick is clean, Brownies are done.  If you need to place brownies back into the oven, set timer for an additional minute or two.  DO NOT forget to check on the Brownies…YOU DO NOT WANT THEM TO BURN or Over cook!

🕶 Allow Brownies to cool on a rack and then place in fridge for a bit so they are easy to cut with nice sharp edges, as mentioned above…Enjoy!
