🍎If you can remember back to TV in the 80s, there was a commercial for Faberge Organic Shampoo. The commercial with the message that it was so good that you’d tell someone and they would tell someone “and so on and so on and so on.” I was reminded of that this weekend as I heard a children’s message about the book by Emily Pearson, Ordinary Mary’s Extraordinary Good Deed.

Left to right-1. A magazine ad of the Faberge Organic Shampoo. 2. The image from the commercial, “you tell two friends and so on and so on…”. 3. What a sweet story of Ordinary Mary.
It is the story of a little girl whose ordinary kind gesture affects the lives of countless others by doing one kind deed for her neighbor. The neighbor, not knowing who brought her a bowl of blueberries she found on her doorstep, makes 5 batches of muffins and gives them to 5 people, each of those people, then do kind things for 5 other people and so on and so forth. These ordinary acts of kindness that each person does, affects countless others until everyone has been touched by kind gestures. Can you imagine what our world would be like if every morning we got up with that philosophy, each to do a good deed every day, in our own way available to us that day? It could be something as simple as saying hello to someone in the grocery store that you don’t know, making a phone call to your neighbor if you haven’t heard from them in a while, or even taking a plate of cookies over to someone when you make a batch and have some to spare. Think of all the people those simple acts could affect and how they could go out into the world and do something nice “and so on and so on.” Just think about how many Great Days could that result in for us all🫐
