It was an interesting week, but then, isn’t that how we could describe most of our weeks? We all live busy and interesting lives with responsibilities, obligations, jobs, people to care for including our own needs.  One day this week, I had an early morning blood draw for an annual physical. The tech who took care of me was courteous, very informative and just one of those people who make you feel very comfortable.  Having had a bad experience at the dentist as a child, makes me uncomfortable around needles. From there I went to buy a new pair of workout shoes. The young man who helped me, Dom, took one look at my shoes, could see that there was a little splitting up near the top, he recommended me sizing up, brought me the new colors in the same style and in less than fifteen minutes, I was on my way to do a return. I didn’t have my receipt but the gal helping me looked it up, found my transaction and gave me the refunded amount to go towards my new purchase, all with a smile and thanks for shopping with us.  Next and last stop was the grocery store. Again, two long lines, not enough checkers and then, three lanes opened up so what I thought might be a long wait, wasn’t. It was just one of those days, sort of like Ben Stiller’s character in “Meet The Fockers” when all the lights were green in the opening and his days was going along effortlessly…

And then, as I was listening to this week’s Marvelous Monday playlist Cooking Together on my way home, stopped for a traffic light at a large intersection, decided I’d attempt to make a right on red light, looked to the left, looked across the intersection for the green light arrow turning left, coming my way. It was clear and just as I was about to step on the gas to accelerate to turn right, ”boom!” I was hit from behind.  UG! No injuries on either end, no damage to the Jeep that rear ended me (she was on her phone), but a new back panel and most likely sensor damage, we will find out when adjuster comes today. the police officer could not have been nicer, the other driver was at fault and their insurance will cover expenses, but a complete inconvenience for me. Just when I thought I could report that it had been a Great Day…

“I Can’t Explain”…

Last week’s blog post, “I’m Staying In My Lane…” came to mind this week. The post was about being aware of events going around us, but having the ability to realize that there is nothing that I can do to eliminate the crazy behavior around me, so “I’m staying in my lane.”  Well, this week, I was ‘staying in my lane’-traffic lane-and I wasn’t immune from trouble.  There I was, minding my own business and boom! I’m talking to a police officer, on the phone with the lady’s insurance company, filling out the online form and scheduling a visit from the adjuster. It will probably be a couple of weeks before the work is complete.  Even when we stay in our lane, the hiccups of life can throw a monkey wrench in the works…

I was actually doing quite well this week, less news, less scrolling, more reading, knitting and drawing. Other tasks included whipping up some chocolate chip cookies, making laundry detergent, catching up on some organizing and I’m still on track for reading The Bible in a year, I haven’t missed a day yet of my selections (usually 2 chapters in the Old Testament, a selection from the New Testament and a selection from Proverbs or Psalms). Writing this keep me accountable…

I turned on the television on yesterday morning and oh my goodness…

-Iran is on fire and where are all the human rights activists now???

-A doctor being interviewed by Congress couldn’t answer the question if a man could become pregnant.  Really?????

-Both the governor of Minnesota and the mayor of Minneapolis are both in-sighting riots. They are whipping people up in a frenzy and their language is convincing enough, that gullible people get involved, not to mention the paid protestors who are easily convinced that this is meaningful work and don’t realize that they are just being used by those who want to stay in power and relevant. They need these people to keep the corruption and fraud going. Just sad. The funny thing is that these two men, think that people can’t see through their “schtick” to detract from the billions of dollars of fraud in their state/city.   I watched video of each of their words to the citizens of their state/city. It’s hard to believe that they believe what they are saying. Can they look right into the camera and lie? Even the police officer next to the mayor as he spoke looked downward as his superior spoke…

“I Can’t Explain” was released by The Who in 1964.

Like Pete Townsend from the British Rock Band, “The Who” wrote at age 18 “I Can’t Explain”.  Now he was talking about a girl and the issues a young man was facing back in the early sixties.  This song came on the radio as I was driving late yesterday.  No, I cannot explain why my day can be going along like a charm and then, a bump in the road-on at the back of my car, actually.  Or, I decide to try to pay less attention to the crazy in the world, as I wrote last week, there is nothing I can do to rectify the problems around us.  Dave Ramsey summed up how I feel, in an essay he wrote very recently that a friend reposted on Facebook this week.  Here it is:

Financial expert, Dave Ramsey

Great read from Dave Ramsey!

“This morning, I realized that everything is about to change. No matter how I vote, no matter what I say, lives are never going to be the same. I have been confused by the hostility of family and friends. I look at people I have known all my life so hate-filled that they agree with opinions they would never express as their own. I think that I may well have entered the Twilight Zone.

You can't justify this insanity. We have become a nation that has lost its collective sense of direction.

We see other countries going Socialist and collapsing, but it seems like a great plan to us.

Somehow it’s un-American for the census to count how many Americans are in America.

People who say there is no such thing as gender are demanding a female President.

Universities that advocate equality, discriminate against Asian-Americans in favor of African-Americans.

Some people are held responsible for things that happened before they were born, while others are not held responsible for their actions at the present time.

Criminals are caught-and-released to hurt more people, but stopping them is bad because it's a violation of THEIR rights.

People who have never owned slaves should pay slavery reparations to people who have never been slaves.

After legislating gender, if a dude pretends to be a woman, you are required to pretend with him.

It was cool for Joe Biden to "blackmail" the President of Ukraine, but it’s an impeachable offense if Donald Trump inquires about it.

People who have never been to college should pay the debts of college students who took out huge loans for their degrees.

Immigrants with tuberculosis and polio are welcome, but you’d better be able to prove your dog is vaccinated.

Irish doctors and German engineers who want to immigrate to the US must go through a rigorous vetting process, but any illiterate gang-bangers who jump the southern fence are welcomed.

$5 billion for border security is too expensive, but $1.5 trillion for “free” health care is not.

If you cheat to get into college, you go to prison, but if you cheat to get into the country, you go to college for free.

And, pointing out all this hypocrisy somehow makes us "racists"!

Nothing makes sense anymore, no values, no morals, no civility, and people are dying of a Chinese virus, but it is racist to refer to it as Chinese even though it began in China.

We are clearly living in an upside-down world where right is wrong and wrong is right, where moral is immoral and immoral is moral, where good is evil and evil is good, where killing murderers is wrong, but killing innocent babies is right.

Wake up America. The great unsinkable ship Titanic America has hit an iceberg, is taking on water, and sinking fast.”

I could not have said it better…Thanks Dave and thanks Terri for posting this essay from Dave…Wishing you all a Great Day ❤️
